The Short North Business Association held it's second Gala on October 12. The highlight of the event was the honoring of people who make a difference in the neighborhood. It was inspirational listening to the stories of these caring volunteers. Among the impressive award recipients was Greg Maynard. He was honored for the contribution he makes to Goodale Park. You've certainly seen him weeding, planting, watering, and picking waterlily blooms and seed heads. As a board member, he actively helps in all Friends undertakings, including bed planning, plant purchases, dog areas in Goodale, Wheeler Dog Park assistance, and help with volunteer coordination. The hundreds of hours he gives are augmentented by his call to Comfest volunteers to help, too.

As recipient of an "Unsung Hero" award, Greg received a $1500.00 grant, which he used to purchase bulbs for the park. If you haven't had a chance to thank and congratulate Greg, come to the park on November 1 at 10:00, give him a pat on the back, and help us plant some of those bulbs.
